"Hot Knife" by Fiona Apple from her new stupidly-long-titled record. Never was a particularly huge fan of hers but these songs are so beautifully sparse and playful and clever and moody in all the right proportions. Album of the month for sure.

What if?, the new blog feature from the creator of webcomic favorite xkcd. He uses math & scientific principles to answer questions like what would happen if you had a mole (6.022x10^23) of moles (sadness, it turns out), and how much of the Earth's power needs could be provided by Yoda's use of the Force. I like how he explains his thought process as he's working through a question, and keeps humor in the equation too. Science!

The Olympics! We are sadly going to miss the opening ceremony because we'll be jamming to Holst at Wolf Trap but I am excited for some quality sportspersonship, international awareness and people doing their best for best's sake.
